Created as part of an Inktober Halloween event, this illustration series was inspired by daily prompts shared across the artist community. Each drawing interprets one of those prompts through the lens of shibari, the Japanese art of decorative rope tying.
This series was my way of exploring the structure, intricacy, and visual poetry of rope work in a relax non work focused setting. The lavender ties are both playful and intentional, wrapping and suspending figures with care and precision. Each piece is themed, some whimsical, some witchy, featuring everything from spellcasters and spiderwebs to moons and mythical creatures.
This project became both a personal creative challenge and a celebration of a new-found passion. I wanted each image to stand on its own, but also keep together as a series.  I chose a limited color palette, clean black linework, soft blush shading, and lavender rope.
For me, this was a playful yet thoughtful exploration of form, restraint, and imagination, all filtered through the communal and creative spirit of (K)Inktober.
